Fika is a concept, a state of mind, an attitude, and an important part of Swedish culture. Many Swedes consider that it is almost essential to make time for fika every day. It means making time for friends and colleagues to share a cup of coffee and a little something to eat. If you want to be a part of the latest venture with us and love quality coffee and pastries, we are recruiting experienced fika baristas and Fika customer service staff for our Fika Coffee Shop and Bakery.
Pay/Benefits:
- For baristas and cashiers, starting pay ranges from $16.28-$16.50 per hour tips (depending on experience).
- Daily tips are in addition to hourly rate of pay.
- Health insurance (for employees that work 25 hours per week and after 90 days of employment); includes life insurance and access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Option to enroll in 401(k) Retirement Savings.
- WA State Sick Leave (1 hour for every 40 hours worked, up to 40 hours per year).
- Shoes for Crews Partnership (payroll deduction for safety shoes).
- Free shift meals when working and discounted meals when off shift.
- 25% Discount on Farm 12 Merchandise.
- Hours will be early morning start (we will close around 3:00 pm); days each week may vary (including weekends).
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide positive, excellent, and friendly service to our guests, embracing our welcoming and warm culture.
- Prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas.
- Prepare, heat, and serve bakery items.
- Process guest payments.
- Follow all food and safety regulations, and clean and sanitize all work areas, utensils, or equipment.
- Learn and remain educated on all menu items.
- Passionately explain menu items, offering suggestions and samples when applicable.
- Keep all products stocked and organized.
Our ideal candidate has a minimum of one year of Barista experience and weekend/Sunday availability:
- Has a passion for quality service and wants to give back to the community.
- Is a strong communicator who enjoys working in a team environment and with customers.
- Is self-motivated, can work well under pressure, and has the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment while displaying professional composure.
- Can be flexible in his/her work schedule.
- Must have early morning and weekend/holiday availability. Sunday availability is a MUST.
- Has a current Food Handlers Permit.
- Has cash handling experience/comfortable with basic math.
- Can focus on the job while staying on their feet and moving about freely, which can include bending, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy items.
